Begin with the queue your team already works
Ask staff to describe a task that repeatedly interrupts their day. They may be checking whether a package is complete, locating a document, reconciling inconsistent contact information or preparing a case for another team. Identify the exact output that would help them.
Avoid starting with a broad goal such as “automate healthcare”. It combines clinical, administrative and operational decisions that have different owners and consequences. This article considers administrative workflow design, not diagnosis or treatment.
- Receive information
- Prepare review brief
- Staff resolve gaps
- Continue established process
Check the existing capability first
Salesforce documents automation and document-related tools in the Health Cloud ecosystem. Your organisation may already have an appropriate capability or process to extend. Confirm the edition, licences and configuration with your administrator before introducing another component. [1]
Health Cloud is also not proof that every required document or status is stored in Salesforce. Information may remain in another system. Establish the permitted access and integration needed rather than assuming the model can retrieve it.
Compare three possible starting points
| Candidate | What the pilot could examine |
|---|---|
| Intake preparation | Can staff inspect a useful summary with unresolved items made explicit? |
| Missing-information follow-up | Can a draft request reflect the actual checklist without inventing a requirement? |
| Administrative handoff | Can the receiving team identify what is complete, what is uncertain and who acts next? |
Choose a candidate that has an owner and a reviewable result. A workflow with unavailable source data or an undefined approval process needs groundwork before AI configuration.
A worked example: preparing an intake briefing
Illustrative scenario. An intake coordinator receives a package with several supporting documents. The proposed agent prepares a briefing listing the documents received, the information that appears missing and any conflicting readings. The coordinator verifies the source and decides the next administrative step.
The example does not decide eligibility, medical necessity or priority of care. Missing information stays unresolved; it is not converted into a negative finding. Any proposed update is subject to the configured action and review controls.
Prove usefulness at the review desk
Measure correct record association, supported readings, helpful identification of gaps and total staff effort. Include difficult documents and reviewers who did not configure the workflow. Faster preparation alone does not establish a better patient outcome.
REDA AI can be configured around your data model, procedures and permitted actions. A scoped sandbox pilot can establish whether that approach helps this administrative task. Bring your workflow owner and administrator; the Health Cloud intake guide provides a more detailed discussion framework.
